Rush hour was a little crazy at the intersection of Waukegan and Deerpath roads on Wednesday night, when a squad car from the Lake Forest Police Department caught fire at 5:57 p.m.
Deputy Police Chief David Fields said an electrical fire in a strobe light caused the rear of the squad car to fill with smoke. The two officers pulled to the side of the road, exited the vehicle and used fire extinguishers to control the blaze. Assistance was provided by the Lake Forest Fire Department, and no one was injured.
