Why point the minivan toward the mall for holiday shopping when you can get everything you need right in Lake Forest? The Lake Forest Hospital Women's Board is holding its annual Holiday Boutique this weekend at the Deerpath Inn. More than 30 vendors are on hand to help shoppers check off the names on their lists---including those names that begin with Mr. (or Sir). For the first time, the Holiday Boutique includes a separate section for men's gifts.
"The Gentlemen's Quarters" offers cigars, unique ties, cuff links and all kinds of accessories. At Wednesday's well-attended preview party, Kevin Miller and Peter Bianchi shopped for ties, as shown in this photo.
Other vendors at the Holiday Boutique include designer jewelry, purses and accessories; gift
candles; children's toys, clothing and books; seasonal decor; vintage
engravings; maps; sports memorabilia, and other exquisite gifts. The
Women's Board also is selling lovely holiday cards, such as the one featured here, by
artist Cecily Lynch, which depicts skaters at Lake Forest's West Park ice
rink. The cards can be ordered at the group's website.
Event chairs Karla Patlovitch and Jami Considine infused the boutique with a great vibe, which was apparent at Wednesday's opening as shoppers tried on jewelry and shawls and examined
the bounty of other gifts. Proceeds from the boutique benefit Lake Forest Hospital's health services. "There's such a positive energy at the boutique," said Ms. Considine. "You can really feel it."
Prices swing from gifts a child can purchase with allowance money to gifts that cost more than that. Ms. Considine said the boutique has something for everyone.
The Holiday Boutique opened Wednesday evening and runs through Saturday at the Deerpath Inn, 255 E. Illinois in Lake Forest. Friday's hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a $10 admission fee.
Lake Forest resident Magdalene Kalb shops for seasonal decor at the Lake Forest Holiday Boutique.
