GazeboNews.com is a community news site covering Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. Just as gazebos represent the town center in many communities, GazeboNews is an online town square for local news, features and other insider-information on life on the tip of Chicago's North Shore. We achieve this by providing original reporting, reader submissions, high-quality photography and a home-cooking-style of narrative journalism. GazeboNews is independent, ad-supported, and reader-driven--we encourage readers to comment on stories and contact us with news tips.
GazeboNews is edited by Adrienne Fawcett (that's her at Sunrise Beach). Adrienne grew up in Winnetka, met her husband at New Trier High School and got a degree in journalism from Indiana University. She's been a journalist and freelance writer for a lot of years, with clips from newspapers and websites such as Mediapost.com, Advertising Age, Chicago Tribune and Princeton Business Weekly. She has three kids, two dogs, one husband and a great love of writing, reporting, and telling stories.Contact Adrienne at adrienne@gazebonews.com
In the summer of '09, Cyn Sansing Mycoskie joined GazeboNews as chief photographer, and thank goodness, as her photos of local people, places and events bring a sophisticated edge to these pages. Cyn moved to Lake Bluff from Texas in 2007 after marrying a high school friend from Austin she'd lost touch with for 33 years. Before that move to Austin when she was 16, she lived in Winnetka, so the North Shore terrain--and climate--are not unfamiliar. Cyn's background includes three grown sons, three grown stepchildren, a journalism degree, work in the advertising/marketing field and a freelance photography business that she's run since 1996. She moved to Lake Forest with her husband in 2008 and they're still trying to sell a bungalow in Lake Bluff---send her an e-mail if you're interested. And she's thrilled to be back on the North Shore after broiling to death in Texas for 35 years!
Experienced in shooting (individual and group) sports, events, weddings and outdoor portraits, Cyn is available for occasional freelance work, and the photos you see on GazeboNews are available for a very reasonable price.
